CASS鈥� Ragandang attends a regional workshop at Yogyakarta, Indonesia聽

CASS faculty member from the Political Science Department, Asst. Prof. Primitivo III Cabanes Ragandang, attended the Regional Workshop on Addressing Vulnerabilities to Violence, Conflict, and Human Security in South and Southeast Asia on March 4 and 5, 2024. The said workshop was hosted by the Nonviolent Peaceforce and the Department of International Relations at Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

Ragandang represented the academic sector, together with advocates, scholars, and community leaders. The workshop aimed to facilitate dialogue on pressing issues such as peace formation, protection for unarmed civilians, and community development. Participants explored challenges to human security and conflict prevention in the region, focusing on fostering regional cooperation and promoting unarmed civilian protection.

Throughout the two-day event, attendees engaged in various activities including presentations, panel discussions, and interactive sessions. Topics covered included unarmed civilian protection, conflict analysis, peacebuilding, and violence prevention. Practical action plans were developed to strengthen South and Southeast Asia's civilian protection and peacebuilding capacities.

This collaborative effort highlights the importance of dialogue and cooperation in addressing shared challenges. By fostering networks and promoting dialogue, the workshop seeks to contribute to enhanced human security and conflict prevention in the region.
